These three sisters are tight and this book mainly focuses on the eldest Madelyn. Maddie and her sisters are starting over in a new school without a women's baseball squad so they join the boys..yes that goes down well.

A lilliputian chip of mystery, drama and not too much teen angst made for a brilliant easy to read story. I'm actually looking forward to the other sis's stories. ...more

I received a costless copy of this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.I was and so curious well-nigh this new series by Jordan Ford and quickly afterward I received my copy I started reading. I like the set-up for this trilogy with each volume focusing one a unlike sis and after finishing this one I tin only say I am even more curious nigh the other ii sisters books. Nosotros got some glimpses of what they are upwards to hither and I even have guesses about who they'll end up with.
Curveball was a not bad get-go of this series. I liked getting to run across the sisters, this town and the school. Curveball follows the story of the Barlow Sisters who motion to a new town. They have some trouble getting used to a new house and boondocks. They love playing baseball and want to join the local baseball team, but that turns out to be a boys simply squad. They try and fit anyway and I liked how nosotros go to encounter a bit well-nigh the sport as well. At that place's also a bit of mystery surrounding school goods that get stolen, which was interesting as well. I liked the twist at the end.
I accept to admit that at offset I had a chip of a hard time liking the two main characters of this volume. I am glad to say that changed as the book progressed and I really enjoyed this volume. Holden is the perfect guy, captain of the baseball team, good looks and popular. And as Maddie telephone call him, he'due south a fleck of paper-thin cutout. But it turns out there'due south much more to Holden than meet the eye and I liked getting to know the real Holden and seeing him trust Maddie with the truth.
Madie was refreshingly honest and directly, but I also found her a bit too fiery at first. She easily jumps to conclusions about Holden, but information technology was great to come across when she realizes she might've been wrong about him and falls even harder for him. I as well liked how protective she is of Chloe and it's obvious these sisters care near each other.
The romance starts off as a bit of a hate to love romance. Maddie tin't stand Holden and gets aroused at him and he likes her fiery side. I didn't actually care for that function, just once Holden starts opening up to Maddie and shows her his trues elf, I was totally onboard with the romance. They made for a nifty couple, although I would've liked a bit more scenes between the two getting to know each other. I actually liked the scene where they visit his granddad. While there is lilliputian drama, there is this thing that keeps Holden and Maddie autonomously for a big part of the book. It felt a bit forced, but also in character. I am glad it didn't drag on too long.
To summarize: Curveball was a fun start of this new series. It has a solid romance, 3 sisters, some teenage problems, sports and a bit of mystery. I wasn't sure if I would like Maddie and Holden at offset every bit Holden seemed a scrap too perfect and Maddie a bit too fierce and she judged him a bit too harsh. But that all changes as the volume progressed and it was neat to see Maddie go to know the real Holden. I just would've liked to meet a bit more than scenes of them getting to know each other every bit at present about of that happens on one evening. I didn't really treat the thing that kept them apart, merely it did feel in graphic symbol and it didn't drag on as well long. I had fun reading this ane and the glimpses we got of the 2 other girls take me really curious near their stories!

Bring on the BARLOW SISTERS! Afterwards reading Jordan Ford's terminal trilogy (The Brotherhood) I think it was simply fitting for her to explore into the world of sisterhood! Ever since she beginning announced her plans for this trilogy several months agone I've been hooked on her concept of three sisters learning to navigate in a new town while finishing out their loftier school baseball careers on the boy'southward team. Once again the amazingly talented Jordan Ford has surprised her readers with this brand-new twist on a sports romance that is relatable to all females.
Right from the very beginning my full attending was captured and I couldn't put this story downwardly because I needed to know how everything played out! Maddie Barlow's character is then relatable that you can't help but instantly connect with her. She is one of those characters that sacrifices her happiness for her loved ones and understands that she needs to be strong for her sisters in their move to Armitage! Holden on the other manus is someone who y'all "hate to honey." At the first of this story I thought he was a complete jerk, but eventually he wiggled his way into my middle and stayed there until the very terminate! I beloved when we become 1 of those redeemable hero's that brand our hearts flutter.
This story was filled with sweetness YA romance and a piffling bit of suspense (we all love our suspense, at to the lowest degree I do) to keep readers on the edge of the seat until the very end! I cannot wait until Max and Chloe's stories release in the adjacent few months considering I am in honey with these sisters!

CURVEBALL - Barlow Sisters #1
Maddie Barlow is used to being in control.
So when her male parent uproots their family to the small, troubled town of Armitage, just six months from her high school graduation, she's struggling to cope. Worse yet, he insists the coach makes room for all of his daughters on the boys' baseball team. The close-knit Armitage Pitbulls don't desire three girls messing up their flavor, and they're going to do everything in their power to make certain the girls don't make them look bad…especially Holden Carter—the smooth, skilful-looking captain of the team.
Maddie takes one expect at him and knows he'south trouble. In spite of her instant allure she's determined to put the big-headed jock in his place, which is made doubly hard when her younger sis starts crushing on the guy. In an try to protect her sis from getting hurt, Maddie puts herself between them, only to face a curveball she never saw coming.
Her allure to Holden is not supposed to plough into more than…and when it does she's caught between pain her sister and turning her back on the first guy she'southward ever really fallen for.
But a forbidden romance is not the only curveball Maddie and Holden have to dodge, considering things aren't what they seem in the quaint town of Armitage…and they're about to piece of work out that discovering the truth can be way more unsafe than living a prevarication.

The Barlow Sisters accept a great life in Columbus. Twins Maddie and Max, and younger, past a year, sister Chloe. They are not just sisters, but all-time friends. They are also gorgeous, kick-donkey baseball players. Maddie is the tough sis, protective and strong. Max is easy going, focused on her baseball. Chloe is sweet across words. Everything changes in the blink of an eye when their dad takes a promotion as sheriff in the picayune boondocks of Armitage, California beyond the country.Obviously the girls are shaken. Maddie and Max are entering their last semester of loftier school. They have to leave their friends, boyfriends, and most importantly their squad behind. Armitage is nothing like home. The town is run-down and the people seem to be closed off. There is too much criminal offense for such a small town, even at the high school. 1 theft after some other. And to height information technology all off, the high school only has a male child's baseball team. A team that does non want the girls. Holden Carter, the team's captain makes that clear. He's going to be a trouble, in more ways than one. Chloe is immediately smitten. Maddie is infuriated past the gorgeous human being, but tin't become him out of her mind. But Max is unfazed past Holden, but she's not interim herself either. She'southward secretive and disappears regularly. This new town is wreaking havoc on the Barlow sister'due south.
This is a book of false images. Anybody is putting up a forepart, hiding secrets. There is unnecessary pain because of all the secrets. And so much insecurity, dubiousness, and false-assumptions. Maddie with her forthright honesty could not accept been placed in a less fitting environment. Holden is the king of false fronts. He has the Carter image to maintain and keeping secrets is his family specialty. Can he permit his guard down and bear witness the real Holden. He and Maddie could have something deep and meaningful. Or will he keep his image as gilded boy and settle for something light with her sweetest sis Chloe? Volition one of the girls get their centre broken? What is going on with Max? Is she in trouble? (I don't remember and then). And what near the thefts?
Curveball is a neat commencement to the Barlow Sis's serial. Information technology manages to tie in baseball, a fantastic loftier-school romance, and a mystery. The three stories are beautifully woven together into a very entertaining read. The sister bond is astonishing. I loved, loved, loved the girl'south dearest for one another. This is a book I wholly recommend; yous will savor it!

I accept loved everything this author has written in her NA and YA Genre and couldn't wait to read her new Barlow Sis's series.Curveball is first volume of the series. The story goes from their and the new school at Armitage High. Their dad gets them to try out with the Pitbulls, an all guy team full of hotness & airs. This gives Maddie, Maxi and Chloe somewhat of an incentive to prove them what they can do.
Holden, their captain of the Pitbulls, have a trouble with the girls joining the team and him and his all-time friend Luke try to sabotage their playing from the become go. Holden, them realizes these girls can play and the fiestiness of Maddie is getting to him. Can he trust her with his secrets? Can Maddie let someone equally arrogant and bossy as Holden in her center?

...moreAnyway... This volume took me past surprise. There were a couple twists that I didn't run into co If y'all haven't noticed, I have been on a contemporary/romance reading loftier in the month of January 2020. Overall, this volume had interesting characters. I loved the sisters and their potential suitors for the reminder of the serial. Maddie was feisty and Holden was a sweetheart and they understood each other although the time period of their blossoming romance wasn't great (Semi/Pocket-size Spoiler: ii MONTHS!!!).
Anyhow... This book took me by surprise. There were a couple twists that I didn't see coming and lots of cheesy lines and that I ate it all up. HaHa. Only there were likewise a lot of questions left unanswered! I literally screamed and skimmed over some of the scenes with the parents because I couldn't handle their ignorance with real world issues that already take negative stigma in society. To the author'southward credit, this is book 1 of a 3 book series and who knows how those issues will be dealt with in the upcoming books... however, if some of the issues are not dealt with in the series then I can't fault the author for leaving it as is (cold difficult truth). In the real earth, non everything is sugarcoated and tied with a pretty little bow. Simply WE'LL Run into WHAT HAPPENS... Dun Dun Duuun
In the finish, Curveball was an angsty read that I would recommend friends to read.

The offset in this series, information technology is a bang-up launch. Holden and Maddie were amazing together. Holden was such a good guy behind the whole persona. I loved the catastrophe and I tin can't say I expected how the mystery office of it would finish. Chloe was a smashing sister who was truly the bigger person. Maddie was so responsible. I loved her character and the way that she was built in the story.
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If I am being honest, the start of the volume was a little rocky for me. The flow was kind of abrupt. I'm not explaining this right, but it just felt terse. And Holden was actually hard to like. Extremely cocky and full of himself. Maddie was a bit besides hateful too. As the book progressed, those things eased up and the story began to grab my attention with the intrigue surrounding Max, and trying to determine who the thief was. I take to admit that I did figure information technology out sooner than expected, just that is probably considering that character was another i that I constitute unbearable. So far, Max is my favorite sis, the one that I am really liking...even with the mystery surrounding her and I cannot await to read her story.
This is definitely a YA volume with all of the drama of high school, and kickoff dear. Add the upheaval of having to motion in the middle of your high school years, and to a small town to kicking, and many a teenager could relate.

I picked this 1 up on a whim considering it was free via kindle unlimited, and sometimes that "free" gets me. I've found some good books on kindle unlimited and I've establish some doozies. This was in the heart.
Was it the worst book I've e'er read? No. Not really. Like. I liked the story well plenty. For a light read to just kind of never dig too deep into anything, it was good.
I mean, I solved the mystery ages earlier anyone even considered the possibility that Vincent Mancini might not be the thief. Well. Perhaps. I definitely had it pegged ages earlier Maddie solved the mystery. Information technology's not similar it was that difficult. Information technology was nearly spelled out.
I knew immediately that Maddie and Holden were into each other. That was spelled out. In crayon. Or spray painted on a water tower. Completely obvious.
Holden was a dick. Like. There's no manner to sugarcoat that. And the sister drama was frustrating as hell. I will admit that I've never had sisters, but i time my one-time best friend started texting a guy that i was interested in, and then she became interested in him, just then decided to not be interested in him anymore. I eventually got over that shell (he was a douchebag, too, and I was the exact same as I am now... always intrigued by texting people and accidentally oversharing/being annoying as all hell.), just the fact that my ain and then bff had to nose in on him still scrap. If I must call up back and compare, that male child was definitely a Patrick. Not a loss, but still non exactly the nicest thing my onetime best friend ever did. Then. Like. I get exactly how Chloe must experience when her own sister starts digging Holden.
I joked almost starting a drinking game based on the amount of times that Holden winked and smirked. And then snickered came up and I was like "How drunk do I want to get?"
I had fun reading, I really did, but I had a few complaints. Most importantly, this read similar it belonged on wattpad.
You know those books. The ones you've read because you're bored and have a wattpad account. They're about the proficient girl and the bad male child. This felt like that. Except for it was the adept girl and the douchebag. Holden turned out to have a hidden side, which I'm not entirely sure why he hid it except that teenagers are a agglomeration of dicks who volition eat each other alive for being different. But. Like. He still involved secrets and sneaking around and lying. That he dragged Maddie into. Or Maddie dragged him into? I don't know. It seemed a trivial abrasive that Maddie was lying to her sisters about him, simply I guess when babe sis has a crush on your future swain, things get a little hairy. But. The amount of times that smirked and winked and snickered came up made me wonder if the author really has seen smirking and heard snickering. I dunno. It felt very overused.
In the cease, I liked it. But it could apply some help.
...moreI dearest reading Hashemite kingdom of jordan Ford books considering I am e'er surprised past something that is going on inside those pages. The characters, and situations, leap off the page before you, drawing yous into their world, and so you experience all their pain, their heartache, their joy. One part that really got me, was when Holden took Maddie to Cresthill, and she spent time with his grandpa. Lump, see pharynx - you're going to go very acquainted with each other right at present. I thought I had the bad guy figured out, and I did (yey me!), but somehow I yet ended up feeling sorry for him. Every character in this book was believable, and therefore relate-able.
With no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, this book flowed from start to cease. It was completely engrossing, and I tin can't wait to read the other sisters' stories, especially as I accept them paired upwardly already! Highly recommended by me.
